Barcelona vs Valencia PREDICTION & BETTING TIPS - 14/09/2019

Barcelona play host to Valencia at their Camp Nou in what is expected to be one of the most entertaining games of Saturdays program. The Catalan giants dropped two points in a 2-2 draw with newcomers Osasuna in Pamplona, but seeing that both Leo Messi and Luis Suarez are likely to recover in time to face los Che, we believe that there is a big value in betting on the reigning champions.

They definitely seem like a huge favorite against Valencia, even though their recent form hasnt been too impressive. Barcelona have lost two out of their previous four matches in all competitions, drawing one and winning a match along the way. Sure, getting knocked out in the Champions League was a major disappointment, but they still have a chance to salvage the season by winning the cup.

It will be tough for him to take over from a coach who was clearly popular in the dressing room and he will have had precious little time to gear up his side for a trip to Camp Nou which is immediately followed by a big away day at Chelsea in the Champions League. New boss Albert Celades has something of a baptism of fire here.

Its safe to say Los Blaugranas have not started the season as brightly as they would have liked. They should be excited to come back home, however, as their lone contest at Camp Nou this season ended with a huge 5-2 win over Real Betis last month. Following a 2-2 away draw at Osasuna the last time out, Ernesto Valverdes men only have four points following their first three league matches (W1, D1, L1). Including their UEFA Champions League debut next week at Borussia Dortmund. Winning against Valencia would not only qualify as a statement win against a contender, but it could also boost the teams morale ahead of the upcoming challenges. Valverde has not found the Best XI yet ahead of this season, and the absence of Lionel Messi has hurt the side more than expected thus far. But if there is one game to bounce back, this is it.

Team News

For this clash, many important players are dealing with injuries. This summer they signed Antoine Griezmann for 120 million from Athletico Madrid but management is still busy, they are trying to make an agreement with PSG to bring back Neymar and once again in recent history form the most impressive and expensive attacking line in Europe. Samuel Umtiti, Nlson Semedo, Ousmane Dembl and Leo Messi cant help teammates on Saturday.

Barcelona will be out for revenge here but they again head into this game without Leo Messi who is still recovering from an injury. However Valencias decision to fire coach Marcelino in midweek adds plenty more intrigue to this game which is a repeat of the Copa del Rey Final which Los Che famously won in March. Even before this weeks events, this was always going to be the most eagerly anticipated of the weekend fixtures in La Liga.

Pique won his sixth La Liga trophy with Barca in the 2015/2016 season and in 2008 he has three Champions League titles with the Catalan giants as well. His main position is centre back, but he is capable of playing a defensive midfielder if needed. He returned to his boyhood club in 2008 and he has been playing for the Catalan giants ever since. The 193-cm-tall footballer is a centre back who is good in the air.

With such an amazing team, they were expected to lift the Champions League trophy as well. But, they failed to do so by getting knocked out in the semifinal by Liverpool, after Reds had a historic comeback in the second leg. Their main rival in La Liga, Real Madrid, had a horrible season, so we cant say that winning the league trophy is a big achievement for Barcelona.

Youngster Carles Perez is expected to be given another chance to impress on the right of a front three which should also feature Antoine Griezmann and Luis Suarez. He can take some encouragement from the unconvincing start to the season Barcelona have made. They are already 5 points behind leaders Atletico Madrid and they could really have done with Messi back here against a side they failed to beat in 3 matches last season.

The sheer quality of the players alone massively place Ernesto Valverdes men as the favorites. And if ever there were a squad to be keen to settle old scores, its Barca. On top of that, they have the home advantage, and with them having lost against this same opponent in the 2019 Copa del Rey final, this tie is more of an opportunity to exact revenge.
