Miami Dolphins (@7.0) vs Dallas Cowboys (@1.1)

Our Prediction:

Dallas Cowboys will win

Miami Dolphins – Dallas Cowboys Match Prediction | 22-09-2019 13:00

The team struggled running the ball (30th in the league in yards rushing) and Dalvin Cooks inability to stay healthy hurts, but the team added some fresh young legs in the draft with Boise States Alexander Mattison. Mike Zimmers defense played well, but the offense struggled despite having one of the best wide receiver tandems in the league in Stefon Diggs and Adam Thielen. The Vikings are strapped for cap space as they have a lot of money spread out to several different players, including paying a premium price for quarterback Kirk Cousins.

Lets take a look at the schedule. Trading veteran quarterback Ryan Tannehill to the Tennessee Titansand not moving up to draft a quarterback in the first round, should give you an idea of what this season will look like. The Miami Dolphins are in flux as the organization seems to be in full rebuild mode following a (7-9) 2018 campaign. Little to no offensive firepower was gained in the offseason, let alone the questionable signing of journeyman Ryan Fitzpatrick. On defensethe Dolphins hope to improve under new Head Coach Brian Flores, but will struggle with key departures. In recent news, Josh Rosen was acquired via trade with the Arizona Cardinals as a possible alternative QB option for the upcoming season. Trading DE Robert Quinn in the offseason as well asother questionable movesshow that there is a long term plan in place, not likely producing a winner anytime soon.

Of his 140 tackles last season 102 were solo. Just like last season, Vander Esch displayed the speed, power, and aggression that made him a household name against the New York Giants last Sunday. That's what's probably the most impressive thing to me about him is his ability to bring down ball carriers/pass catchers on his own. This puts him on pace for 160 tackles for the season which would shatter what he did as a rookie. He racked up 10 tackles (9 solo), 1 pass defended and a forced fumble.

Dallas hits the road for the first in 2019 as the head up to FedEx Field to face the Washington Redskins. Expect Dallas to handle the Redskins in Week 2, gaining control early in NFC East. The Cowboys have dominated in the NFC in years prior but lost a heartbreaker in Washington thanks to some questionable officiating and a doink from kicker Brett Maher.

New York Giants

The Cowboys defense put forth a stellar effort in the teams Week 10 matchup with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Rod Marinellis group held Tampa Bay to only 10 points and 330 total yards, but the Dallas offense was unable to match the defenses quality, managing only two Dan Bailey field goals, along with a missed field goal from the normally reliable Cowboys kicker.

This was a crucial fourth-down stop considering if the Giants scored a touchdown it would've made the score 28-17 with more than a quarter to play, and as we know in the game of football, momentum is a powerful weapon. Vander Esch does a great job of changing direction and pursuing Eli Manning as he picked up a half-sack along with DeMarcus Lawrence. The best play he made versus the Giants is in the clip above.

Then, well tally up each game and come up with a projected win total for the season. For example, if we think they have a 50/50 shot at winning a particular game, they will receive 0.5 wins for that matchup. Rather than just a straight up guess between winning and losing, we will use confidence level for each game to come up with a win value based on a percentage. We decided to run through the Cowboys opponents this upcoming season and try to determine the likeliness of the Cowboys winning each game.

The wild card factor for Haskins lowers the confidence level a tad, but the Cowboys still have a reasonable shot at sweeping them this year. Something tells me that wont be the case this season. The Redskins have a sneaky way of giving the Cowboys trouble, even when theyre outmatched. Win confidence: 80% (x 2 games) = 1.6 wins. Washington is the Cowboys Week 17 opponent this year and over the last three seasons, this has been a meaningless game for them.

Trey Williams Will Have Over 100 All-Purpose Yards

However, he would quickly turn heads with his elite level of play in only his first year on the field. He was so good that he earned Pro Bowl and All-Pro honors and was one of the leaders of the Cowboys top 7 ranked defense. When the Dallas Cowboys drafted Linebacker Leighton Vander Esch in the first round of the 2018 NFL Draft it wasn't received with open arms from the fan base. With expectations through the roof in 2019, Vander Esch is off to another fast start.

The Cowboys are 0-7 since September 20, but the quarterback famine in Dallas is coming to an end. The comeback begins this Sunday against the Miami Dolphins, as the Cowboys look to their captain to lead a miraculous charge in an attempt to make the playoffs. Romo is set to make his return to the lineup for the Cowboys, and he has sent a message to fans that his confidence isnt waning.
